Prerequisite:
- Level II certification plus 200 documented hours of practice utilizing the technique on actual clients.
- One case study:
Requirements: This needs to be a current or new client who has presented with specific problems and the following need to be tracked and submitted by May 1st, 2009:
- Full past and present medical history
- Completed Personal Flexibility Assessment (PFA): minimum of one but prefer two, an initial and a later or final one.
- Notes on what the planned action will be during session and homework assigned for each session
- Progress reports and adjustments.
- Final outcome (if pertinent) and future plans.
Case study may be presented in narrative or SOAP format and emailed to ann@stretchtowin.com.
Target audience: Practitioners licensed to diagnose and/or treat medical conditions. The following list is not all inclusive but serves as a sample of these practitioners: physicians of manual medicine like physiatrists, osteopaths and chiropractors, physical therapists, kinesiotherapists, certified athletic trainers/athletic therapists and all medically trained massage therapists.

Description: This course qualifies as an Advanced level workshop (as defined by the American Physical Therapy Association's guidelines) since it assumes that the participants have a thorough familiarity with the topics of gross human anatomy, connective tissue anatomy, kinesiology, assisted stretching and flexibility training. Therefore, it focuses on advanced techniques, recent advances, and future directions in evidenced based Fascial Stretch Therapy™ and by increasing your understanding and clinical application of this material.
For practitioners licensed to diagnose and/or treat medical conditions, this course will use the combined 35 years of Ann and Chris' experience in accurate and quick assessment followed by implementing a specific course of treatment for the condition at hand.
Upon completion of this course you should be able to:
- Increase & expand on how to evaluate & treat dysfunction of common neuro-myofascial conditions like scoliosis, chronic/multiple disc lesions, DDD/DJD, anatomic & functional leg length discrepancies, lumbar flexion vs extension biased pain syndromes, plantar fasciitis, ITB syndrome & many more.
- Learn how to effectively combine local treatments like ART, joint mobilization/manipulation & others with specific FST regional focus protocols.
- Identify & treat the hypomobile soft tissue lesion causing hypermobile strain pain.
- Resolve joint dysfunctions resistant to joint treatment by implementing regional & global FST treatment followed by a home program specifically designed to correct the imbalance caused by the adhesion & by faulty compensatory movement patterns.
- Learn how to design regional FST treatments & home programs to rectify upper and lower crossed syndromes.
- Identify clients that fit into the following categories then learn how to modify your FST session to accommodate their special needs: type A control freaks, high strung fast twitch athletes, unknown etiology, stiff board "doesn't live in their body", emotional wrecks and more.
- All practitioners should be able to successfully integrate FST™ as an essential manual therapy skill that enhances your overall abilities to diagnose and treat as dictated by your license, specialty or certification.
