Course Description:
This course qualifies as an Advanced level workshop (as defined by the American Physical Therapy Association's guidelines) since it assumes that the participants have a thorough familiarity with the topics of gross human anatomy, connective tissue anatomy, kinesiology, assisted stretching and flexibility training. Therefore, it focuses on advanced techniques, recent advances, and future directions in Fascial Stretch Therapy™ and in increasing your understanding and clinical application of this material.
This workshop is a complete training in Level II Fascial Stretch Therapy™ (FST) techniques and protocols for the lower and upper body. You will earn a certificate of completion after attending all days and hours of instruction. You must successfully complete all 5 days of training and pass an open book written and a practical exam for both the lower and upper body with an 80% grade to earn qualification as a Level II Certified Fascial Stretch Therapist (CFST-II).
This 5-day workshop is 95% hands-on and the first half focuses on getting adept at advanced evaluation of the state of the myofascia of the lower half of the body from the level of the T-12 vertebra on down to the feet. This is accomplished by learning how to accurately sense the end-feel of connective tissue through advanced multi-planar range of motion challenge tests to the torso, lumbo-pelvic-hip girdle and extremities.
The second half of this workshop focuses on getting more adept at advanced evaluation of the state of the myofascia of the upper half of the body from the level of the T-12 vertebra on up to the head and upper extremities. This is accomplished by learning how to sense the end-feel of connective tissue through advanced multi-planar range of motion challenge tests to the torso, shoulder girdle, upper extremities and spine.
After learning how to identify regions of fascial imbalance you will learn how to conduct a complete advanced assisted fascial stretch session. Building on the foundational skills learned in Level I, Level II gives the practitioner a new comprehensive skill set to address more complicated client problems and patient diagnoses for quicker and better outcomes. For the fit and healthy client, these techniques will take their flexibility, strength and mobility to a whole new level – guaranteed!
For physical therapists and other licensed healthcare practitioners, this level of training will enable you to successfully integrate FST™ into your practice as another advanced manual therapy skill and modality to treat pain and mechanical dysfunction appropriate to your level of skill, training and education. This is the prerequisite second level to get the expertise needed to progress to more advanced levels where diagnosis and treatment protocols specific to neuromyofascia are addressed.
Only licensed healthcare practitioners are admitted to the Level III Certified Fascial Stretch Specialist - Medical training track. Others may progress their training through the Level III Certified Fascial Stretch Specialist - Fitness training track.
NOTE: Course content is not intended for use by participants outside the scope of their license or regulation.
